Costa
Rican Distillations 2005
Here is a selection of pictures from this years distillations
in Costa Rica.
We have been developing distillation projects in Costa
Rica since 1999.

Separation is achieved with both stainless steel separators
and specialty glass receivers.
Hydrosols are collected into large plastic jugs.

Lemongrass is spread in preparation of distillation.

Citronella loaded to capacity just prior to the lid
being put on and the charge commencing distillation.

Cinnamon bark is striped off a cinnamon tree by Harold
and a WWOOF er Julia.
It will then be dried and ground prior to distillation
or sale as dried spice.

Here Alan is collecting material with Margaret, a
volunteer on the farm.

Oil is collected and measured in a large glass Graduated
Column after separation.

Ylang Ylang wafts through the air at the farm every
March prior to distillation.
Here is a ripe ylang ready to be picked off the tree.
